I hacked my Bramley and Victoria c.18 months ago and thought I had killed them. They are producing leaves but no blossom? They are my best trees and I want them back to full health? Have I got a chance? Thank you x

I pruned my Victoria plum severely to get the shape I wanted,so I'd cut away at all the year old growth that flowers form on. I missed a year of plums,but this year I have so many. This is probably what's happening with your trees.Location : EssexComment

If you heavily prune a healthy mature fruit tree, it will respond by putting on a lot of growth, rather than fruiting. This is why heavy pruning is generally not a good idea. Try to tie the vertical shoots a bit more towards the horizontal, this will encourage the trees to produce fruit buds this summer, which will become blossom next spring.Comment

I didn't think one of the trees in our allotment orchard had blossomed but it must have done as it's got fruit on it now - it's a victoria plum!Comment
