  • Are we really in May going onto June!

Rain is good, so lots today (no golf today!) but does it have to be as cold as it is as it is suppose to be end of May beginning of June or am I in the wrong twilight zone. Just looked at the outdoor temp. and it is only 11.3 C at noon. What is that about and I am in the South East so hate to think what it is like up North.

Has been drizzly from about 11am but we've just had a heavy rain shower. 13 degrees here.

The good news the potatoes at the allotment are growing well....now we need to see if there are spuds underneath.

              On the plus side.....

This is the first year EVER (of the last ten) that I haven't been miles behind everyone else, desperately trying to catch up

This year I look sagely wise, putting out well developed plants that have been hardened off properly.....too cold for cucumbers? thank goodness, gives me another week to get their bed ready

(having said that, the storm brewing over my house right now is starting to look a bit biblical )

We had hail here in Oldham.

Most of my runner beans are out on the plot, hiding at the side of the greenhouse. Was going to plant them out today but the rain had been a bit much.

We have had several hail storms here today. Can't believe how much rain we have had today either. I know May is meant to be in like a lion and out like a lamb but we are nearly at the end and the weather is still roaring.

I know that saying for March. Would apply to either month this year!

It's so cold here none of my seeds have come up, just a few carrots, my beans are waiting for warmer days before I plant them out. The evenings are freezing, we've had hail, lashing rain and cold wind. Must be tough on the nesting birds.

In case anyone is blaming global warming for this cold May, when I got married on June 3rd 1972 we had our honeymoon in Cornwall and it was freezing. All we could do was stop in bed!
