    room to breathe

    having had our drive altered beside the house we now have loads more space so I have moved my potted (1/2 to 3/4 size cut down dustbin) fig to the south facing wall of the house and put rows of wires across the wall and have fan trained the 11 strong stems out and it seems to love this, but now with the cold weather back I suppose that's it for this year as we need the warmth up here to get a decent crop, but with the 2 potted apples it all looks very good...

    Have you got any photos? Is it a plastic or metal bin? I've got a plastic bin that will not be used soon - wondering what I can use it for.

      it is an old plastic bin, you can cut these with a wood saw and drill 8 x 1/2ins holes in the bottom, with 2ins of broken pots and then another of sharp sand/gravel means it has good drainage and room enough to grow on...,just seen the long term forecast on the telly, after telling us we would have 3mths of heatwaves they are now saying we will have cold weather through to the end of july all over the uk. we pay these numpties ? ,I wouldn't give them house room, the department of guessology and pretence.....
