  • Chilli plant management

I grow a chili plant every year but I never really know what to do with it over winter. I do bring it in doors but it always ends up looking scraggy and poorly. Should I prune it or just leave it? It's a Apache chilli in a small pot.

    Re-pot in fresh compost

cut back back any brown stems or leaves. Remove any pods off the plant.

Feed weekly with diluted seaweed feed weekly. A high nitrogen feed to encourages growth towards the latter part of the winter
Dont water too much, maybe once a week and only a little bit to keep mould to a minimum. They take longer to use the water through the winter months

You will need to keep the plant in the house over the winter months. If not possible, you can keep in a greenhouse but you will need to wrap in bubble wrap or something similar to keep warm.
Try and not keep it on the floor if keeping outside.
