  • Explaining AdblockPlus (ABP)

As many are aware, some grapes are having trouble with the annoying ads. Some but not all systems accept ABP which is a free download for your operating system. Here is a simple explanation how to remove the ads:

This is my screen with ABP disabled:

So to remove the ads, click on the ABP icon in the right hand corner & click "Block element"

Hover your mouse over the ad/s you wish to remove, the ad/s will be highlighted (Note the pink box at the bottom). Right click your mouse and select "add" in the new box.

You may have to refresh the page periodically but hopeful it should clear the ads. Hope this helps.

Mine doesn't look like that, BM. No wonder I've struggled with everyone's instructions!

I wonder if it's relevant to the operating system............I'm using Opera so it's an add on to that.

I'm using Chrome and it looks like BMs.
Martin, what happens when you click Continue to ADP?

Mine is different as well - as I suggested in the other thread...................

I think there are different versions for different browsers and different IE versions.
I have GYO as 'blocked' but still get the side ads showing and occasionally the one at the bottom appears as well and I have to click on the 'hand' to disable it.

I have no facility in my version to block elements.

It's not "Continue", it's "Contribute". It takes me to a fundraising page.

I can do it in mine but it's a bit of a faff. I click on "Open blockable Items" then "Detach" to get a list of blocked and not-blocked things. Then I go down the list clicking on likely suspects and seeing which bit gets highlighted. When I find the right one, I double-click on it and add a filter for it.

So the ad has to be pretty annoying before I bother.

I don't have that option I only get the choice to either block ads on a site or not)

Mine is the same Martin, the easiest way to clean up your screen is ... right click the offending item, from the drop-down list select the last option ... AdBlock Plus : Block Image ..., then click .. Add Filter ..... you will need to do this to each item

                    Ere yer go bud .........

                    After doing the above .....

Well, that was a waste of time, 'cos they reappear on every new page. I'll just increase the page size till they are off the edge.

I'm using Opera as my browser MH. Have you tried following post 1?

Thanks BB. I've never noticed that feature lurking at the bottom of the right-click menu! Much easier.
