  • So excited. I got an allotment again

5 yrs ago I put my name on two council allotment lists and one from an allotment association. I got my plot from the association and I'm quite happy about it. in December I changed my address to the council lists and they told me that I was still 72nd on the list and today I got a phone call about a plot. They told me that they tried to contact all the other people but or they had change detail and not told the coucil or they didn't want it anymore.
I told them that I'm interested to get and I will go see it in two weeks because the allotment officer is in holiday. Now is ok to have two plot? I drove by the new allotment site wich is only 300 meter away from my first one and is 3time the size. I want to keep them both for now and see how the new plot is and if I can't keep them both under control I give one up. What you think? I've read all the allotment term and condition and doesn't say anywhere that only one plot per person so technically I'm not doing anything illegal having 2plot.

It is not illegal and is actually the sensible thing to do.

    Imagine you were moving home.
There are are set times to move fruit trees and canes, potatoes and onions may already be in the ground, psb cropping away and so on.
No-one would expect you to give all those up.

It is common practice to keep both plots the first year in order to harvest and move crops at the proper season.

I can't believe still not got in touch for the plot. I phone again last week and spoke with the right guy and told me that he will get in touch in few days considered that he only came back from his holiday. So the few days now is 1 week still not phone call. I bet if someone didn't pay the rent in time they will be call them at 6 in the morning.

Finally I got it. Unfortunately the other plot as been given to another person but still happy with this. Now that I'm looking at it I worse then I thought but better as well. Is better because there are 7 water butts, 2 compost bins, 2 sheds which one has furniture (like a table radio small wardrobe chair maybe they use it as relax room) the other one full of seed trays and some tool but in bad condition, a pond, cold frame, and some plant like currant, Rosemary, rhubarb. The worse is a totally a mess. Not wonder from 72 to be the first on the list in no time. The first thing is to clear all the rubbish left there like another shed that as bees demolished all kind of timber and plastic.

It doesn't look too bad Sarico. Start collecting cardboard and cover those weeds to stop them getting any bigger. Once all of its covered you can tackle a little bit at a time.
Congratulations on your new plot..keep us updated with loads of photos

Do you think is better if I chop them up before cover them. The allotment officer was a nice man and told me that even if they say that need to be cultivated if he see that people are doing a bit at the time is ok with that. I'm so happy for the plot and the extra that come with.

Congrats, Sarico. You'll soon have those weeds under control and there are lots of essentials on it already so you don't have to worry about those.
I like the sound of the shed with a radio, table and chair. What's the address - I may move in

Well I set a time of 3maybe 4 year to have it all done. I have the plot that I want. Once the back is clean up from rubbish I'll put the sheds at the end so I will have a bit more space for growing veg.
