Can you please advise how big butternut squashe plants grow? I have a southish facing bank next to my plot and thought about a bit off gorilla gardening. The area is about 6mtrs in lengh so wondering how my plants to sow.

I would suggest no more than four, and train the runners to suit.

Depends on the variety, most can get huge if they have sufficient food and water but there are some tidier varieties. Personally I get more luck with other types of winter squash but some people seem to get butternuts OK and you're a fair bit south of me so may not be so reliant on the short season varieties which I have to use.
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

I have grown Harrier quite well before and this year I am trying Hunter as well - they say you need about 1 sq mtr per plant depending how big you let them get and how many fruits etc etc
But I grew 4 on just under 3 Sq mtr and enjoyed the smallish squash that were produced.Comment
