  • Bought a polytunnel on impulse...

    As the title says.

I already have three greenhouses so why the heck do I want a polytunnel?

The story goes that one of the plotholders is moving onto a plot with a huge polytunnel already there from a previous occupier. They had two polytunnels and sold one. The other I was told they were leaving on the plot so I offered them a tenner (which was better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick) and the tunnel was mine.
Its 10 foot by 6 foot and its staying where it is on their previous plot until the wind goes down and I can shift it to I know not where on my plot!

Thought about using it to grow Chrysanths in as mine got battered last year.

You could sell it for £20 to that new plotholder you offloaded Shanty town onto.

    Hope he's not reading this

..then you could charge extra as its ready erected
Put a few plants in it - that would bump up its value even more

Busy time after work. The wind had dropped a bit so I decided I would at least take the cover off the polytunnel. Dug all the bricks and soil away that were anchoring the sides and after loosening velcro ties inside managed to pull the cover off. Folded it up the best I could and carted the cover away and put it in my shed.
I went back to retrieve my spade and thought "sod it' I've come this far I may as well take the frame down now"
I took out the 2X2 supports from each corner and pulled all four anchor bolts and brackets out. I went along with a knife and cut the stick on white heat shield from each top joint and separated all the joints along the top centre.
Remember this polytunnel is 10 foot long so it was a bit of a nightmare to single handedly carry half a polytunnel frame over an 8 foot fence then 6 plots along and wrestle each section over the top of my glass greenhouse into a temporary position on my plot.( All done with a gammy leg!)
One of the guys at the allotment asked if I wanted a hand when I was nearing completion which I refused saying " No thanks, its personal now, either I break it or it breaks me!"
