I went. And cheered when he got his award. And when John Harrison got his.

I liked it a lot, though I wish a) it were bigger, b) that people getting awards showed up (it was a bit dispiriting hearing so many were absent) and c) that the seed merchants had more open pollinated seeds. T&M, DT Brown and a couple of the other big ones were there, but it was frustrating seeing that most of the variety names had F1 after them. I'm not trying to re-open the F1 rant on here, but it seems a bit like an own goal to just have those companies there. I'd have loved to see Real Seeds, Thomas Etty or similar with stalls there.

The fab things were being able to talk to some of the fruit growers, going to Di and Paul Peacock's briliant demonstrations on simple sausage & cheese making and joining the Heritage Seed Library - and hopefully now being able to be a Seed Guardian. All in all a good day out.

I've heard from a few people via twitter that the show is really not worth the ticket price, and it will keep you busy for about an hour.

I won tickets for this years show, but could not justify the train fair there, and the tickets were in my name for collection so I could not pass them on to anybody.

Shame really, I missed out going to the show when it was at Stoneleigh, but I never thought it would move so far south and out of reach for many people.

It's definitely not as big as when it was at Stoneleigh, but I spent 7 hours there quite happily. I do prefer Hampton Court, but that's so late in the season. And mostly flaaaaahs.

The could do a hell of a lot more with the space they have though - there's no netting, no real structures or ideas for them, very little by way of cloches etc other than things that are way too expensive for sticking on an allotment. I hope they do - I'll give it one more go because it's a great idea then ditch it if it's not better.

Perhaps they should merge it with Gardeners World live.... then I could get to it..

They're all too far for me - apart from the Cardiff RHS Show. I did go to Malvern once but my string doesn't stretch any further.
