Rather start a new thread I thought I'd add to this one!
Where can you buy cheap paraffin?
What's a reasonable temperature increase to expect from a paraffin heater?
What's the optimum height of flame?

Local hardware stores were about £2/4 liters cheaper than Garden centres when I last bought.

Blue flame heaters can raise temperature a few degrees ... yellow flame basically are a frost prevention - depends on size of greenhouse and insulation...

Flame height? Depends on heater.. about 2cms for blue flame ones.

Seems to me that, since I was a kid and the days of Esso Blue, paraffin has become the most expensive fuel for greenhouse heating? Particularly as the heaters are not thermostatically controlled, so its necessary to light in the evening if there is a chance of a cold night.

I reckon?? that Bottle Gas works out cheaper, once the initial bottle-deposit has been paid (because the heater is thermostatic) and Electricity is cheapest of all for just keeping a greenhouse frost free, assuming a quality thermostat, but the cost of getting an armoured cable to the greenhouse is astronomic by comparison to other fuels, and obviously a non-starter for Allotments.

I suspect Bottle Gas is a non starter for Allotments too as the value of the bottle would be attractive to thieves?
