Interesting that Gardener's World has been on for a few weeks but no-one has mentioned it.

I watched GW. It was unexceptional. Still, it's nice to have some gardening on the TV at long last, to complement Sean's Allotment on youtube!

I've been watching. It's been ok. Nigel is on good form with his tennis ball tricks!

Yes, Ep 2 last night wasn't too bad. I was irritated by Joe Swift referring to a perfectly generous town garden (much bigger than mine) as "very small", though. Maybe it is where he comes from...

But I learnt something new from this episode: Monty says that Hellebores aren't really shade-lovers, they are shade-tolerators that prefer sunshine. Who knew!

The current batch of GW presenters, just don't make it an unmissable programme for me. I accept many people like Monty et al, but none of them compare to the great Geoff Hamilton

Yay! Love Beechgrove, I love Jim! He's a grumpy ol bugger, dismissive and impatient but I think he's ace! :

Yes, I was disappointed that Jim didn't make the top three in the GYO favourite presenter category. He's obviously the best on TV!

I think it could be that it's put on tv at a time when people don't know its on. I only found it by accident. One of the kids was actually up on a Sunday morning and put the tv on. (I usually have the radio on) it's not advertised either, so a lot of people don't know the programme or Jim exists!

Also they don't help themselves! Their website says, "The Beechgrove Garden is a hardy annual TV gardening series which sets out to deal with, glory in and celebrate Scottish horticulture and growing conditions."

Obviously not relevant to me, living as I do in the south of England. Go figure!

On the other hand, it's perfect for where I am, whereas I get annoyed when GW go on about how things are hardy, but when you actually check they are only hardy to -5 in dry conditions, but in my area, Winters are usually wet and about -10. Or when they say to sow seeds outside in early March, whereas here it won't have heated up until the end of March or start of April.

I watch both, when I remember. I think the bit I like best about GW is the music that plays in the background when Monty is doing something!

I kind of wish anyone involved in putting together a gardening show would actually go and look at some normal sized town gardens though as I feel a lot of their suggestions really don't work in the kind of space available to most!

That would suit me ... I'd hear it on the telly and by the time I got around to it it would be "right time"

Whereas when I watch Beechgrove and they tell me to do something its already too late down here
