Echinacea question

    Echinacea question

    Hi guys,
    I've some Echinaceas growing outside and 1 in a pot in the conservatory.

    The one in the conservatory looks a lot healthier than the ones outside, can anyone tell me if the ones outside are going to be OK?

    This is the first winter for them, and me growing them

    I'd expect the ones outside to be further behind than one indoors but there are a number of shoots coming up so should be ok. My soil is too heavy here to grow them, what is your soil like where you are?

      It will come much later than your plant indoors although it looks a little nibbled. Probably slugs or snails, try putting some sand around your plant to stop them, or slug pellets if you use them.

          Thanks Scarlett, put pellets down yesterday and found a load of dead slugs this morning

            Update on these, the one in the pot has improved though the ones outside have done nothing

              As said above, the one indoors will put on faster growth than the one outside although it's still looking a little nibbled. If you want to help it along/speed up growth get a 2L plastic milk container, cut the top & bottom off and place over the plant, it will give it a barrier against any slugs and possibly give it a little more warmth.

                      They look great. I have tried several times to grow them, in different parts of the garden but they sulk and fade away.
