Agricultural supply merchants are generally cheapest. What you're looking for is chicken wire. Try googling it. Or maybe on freegle or your local swap group if you have one in your area.

^^^^^^^ yep 50mm galvanised chicken wire. Don't forget when measuring up you will have to bury it 12 inches into the ground or they will dig under it. and it need to be a good height or they will just climb over it.

Fox proof for wire is a bit of a gimmick. Foxs can jump, dig and chew - if they really want them they will try their hardest to get them (usually they are only a threat when they have young around April time) I got my chicken wire from mesh direct but there are probably cheaper sources around you locally.

^^^^^^^^^^^ Like I said dig it in 12 inches deep I have never seen them beat that. On our pheasant pens the side were about 7 foot high with the top foot loose so they couldn't grip it. But you are right they are bu88ers to defeat.

Electric fence? They are easy to set up and you can move it around. Though not cheap, they will last a reasonable time, and is less work than putting a fence together.

I guess you mean electric sheep fencing - square type mesh - gotta be over three and a half feet high or the fox will jump it. And as Pots says, foxes dig - easy to dig under an electric fence.

Foxes climb, they wont jump over. They will jump up, rest on the top and jump down. As an electric fence is floppy they won't go near it. They won't dig if you string an electric wire outside the perimeter of a fence either. I've had chickens for nearly 15 years. I've had a fox attack twice - both times the electric was off.
