March may be spring in Spain, and technically spring in the UK, but statistically it is more likely to snow here in March than December. I'm sticking to hardy varieties and covering everything with fleece or keeping them inside/under cover for at least another month.

The forecast is for it to get quite warm here by the weekend, but it is still very, very early and temperatures can take a nosedive very quickly, especially at night under clear skies.

Sowing under glass, but too early for outside.

Glorious sunshine yesterday morning ... followed by sleet, hail, rain and even a bit of snow! The wonders of British weather.

Reading some othe forums, inferior to this one of course, its clear that the normal premature sowing of seeds has already started. Complaints of leggy and weak tomatoes, drooping lettuce and other avoidable problems already are already appearing. Must be good to be in spain were i guess early march really is good for sowing most seeds

Scary how keen everyone is to get sowing when it's so cold out still.
I will start sowing shortly. Honest. I've not turned into a wimp over the winter.

All of my seeds that I have sown are up stairs on my bedroom window or most of them are outside in my growhouse, crammed in.

I won't be putting any of them out until at least next month and that'll probably just be the Parsnip's as I've heard they aren't t bothered about frosts. In fact most of them will be going out in May.

Up here in Co Durham there'll always still the chance of snow throughout April and certainly still the chance of frosts.
