having got my first allotment a couple of weeks ago I filled my car today with free pallets from a garden centre.

Going to build a compost bin this weekend

Yep - me as well. Where my daughter lives one house was putting in a new bathroom so I asked for the old bath that had been dumped outside - I know own a bath, shower tray and a loo minus its seat. Spuds in the bath, water cress in the thankfully deep shower tray etc.
When you start mooching its amazing what you can find.

Because we are creating a small slabbed area with an old bench on it - all donated by the hall I thought that I could turn it into a small table to put the coffee mugs on. It would give the open days visitors something to disapprove/ smile/ comment on!
                  What do you think?

I made a compost bin from pallets, I just tie wrapped the corners, dead quick, and worked a treat.

I used garden wire; easy peasy. I used garden twine a few years back, lasted pretty well too.

Remember the programme called "Ready, Steady, Cook"?
....a certain limited selection of goodies to cook?

Well, I see the skip diving as a bit like that!...grab what you think might be useful ( with permission )
and then decide what to do with it on the plot.

I was in a Tesco carpark and saw some old plastic bottles by a bin, large commercial ones and thought ohh they would be good for making comfrey fertalizer, I got told to leave them where they are! (By my partner)
