Have you considered something less breakable such as double-perspex? It will work out expensive in the short-term but it will make it warmer inside and it's also more durable

Thanks for the suggestion Mark. When you say double -perspex do you mean the thick acrylic sheeting that can be used in secondary double glazing?

I've replaced a number of glass panels from mine with 4mm extruded acrylic (perspex) due to the greenhouse being not that far from our horses. It works very well with the following exceptions

-It fogs up slightly more than glass as the greenhouse warms up
-It is slightly flexible - to combat this on I have added a bit of strip wood where 2 panels meet to prevent it flexing to the point it might come out.

The panels are pretty much unbreakable, let similar amounts of slight though and I think insulate better than the glass.

Cost me under a tenner a panel from memory
