  • Sweetcorn Ripening Question

We had a great crop of sweetcorn this year but towards the end of the season many of the cobs were complete and perfect but each niblet was hard and rounded like a popcorn. These were general sweet cob variaties, nothing unusual. Was this caused by a lack of water as the cobs ripened perhaps? Or was there another reason.

You probably left them too long on the plants

It's usual to harvest the whole crop at the same time (and freeze any excess). F1 varieties have been bred to all be ready at the same time
