  • Romanesque ?

Don't think I've spelt it right, but you know what I mean, never grown it before or eaten even, but I picked a couple of very small heads today, and wonder if like broccoli, it will throw out more side shoots? Or is that it?

    Thanks

My experience is it throws out sideshoots, or at least when you've harvested the bit from the top you get smaller shoots lower down. I frankly have never managed a head like I bought at the market last week (bigger than most caulis ). Always been a bit of a disappointment but we're there again this year.

      Good luck Dotty

Had some off mine last week. It was ok. Him indoors decided he didn't want any though.

Its a veg I love, and every now and again I grow it. Its not easy and is in the ground for a long time.
Once you cut the main head tiny little florets will start to grow. Its not frost hardy and is usually ready October and Early November.
I am thinking of growing some in the greenhouse next year to see how it does.

Ah, in that case, as soon as we get a frost, that'll be it. It has taken up a lot of space, and although I did cut a couple of spears today, couldn't call them heads! Thought I may as well have them, before the slugs do, might get a a little it more, but it's not as good a s the broccoli or cauliflower.

Still it did grow I suppose!
