  • Anyone else troubled by parrots?

I know it sounds daft but seven parrots have established a flock in the trees around the allotments.
Its not exactly the warmest place being NE England so surely other parts of the country must have a similar problem?
I've had apples and Sunflowers pillaged up til now but wonder what else they may forage on?
Bonny looking birds, but noisy and voracious also.

We actually have a parrot zoo quite near us and many of the 'residents' are free flying, so we do get the occasional low flying attack.
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
    Pumpkin pi.

We have the huge wild flocks of Himalayan ring necked parakeets here - all round the London area. Lots of rumours as to how they came to be established in the wild - but they have now gone native in the area. There has been talk of a cull as they are taking up habitats that other native birds rely on.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

They are really quite territorial I watched them chasing 3 large seagulls flying high and they were dive bombing them like the Bloody Red Barron!

Yep, we have literally hundreds of bright green parakeets that rest in the tree by my house on their way to roost each evening.
They're worse than pigeons at the allotments and their screech is horrendous but the sight of them as they swoop and dive is quite amazing !!!

Never seen one in Wiltshire, though sounds like they can be a nuisance

All parakeets need to be culled and sold in supermarkets. They already sell squirrel and parakeet is prettier. I was away for a week and the almost best thing was no parakeets. They are really that loud and intrusive.

We have loads too - a massive flock roosts across the river in Hampton Court/Bushy Park and they have no real predators so are spreading quickly. They are pretty & clever, but they are so LOUD! Ons small blessing of winter & shorter daylight is they don't wake me up for a bit.

                  I don't think Sparrows & Parrots interbreed...............

If Snadger has ring necks then it sounds like someone has either released them, as in copy cat, or caught some down London way and relocated them. If others then released or escaped.

Newcastle may not be too bad as it is coastal and may get less cold from the water buffering the temperatures.

Apparently the ring necks are true Himalayan birds and they can withstand the cold!

Be quite funny wouldn't it, "pieces of four, pieces of four" or maybe even pieces of two or less

I always envisaged holidays abroad to go and see tropical parrots and suchlike, not to get away from the dammed things!

Anyone eaten a parakeet? Looks like their might be plenty of meat on them. Could become a firm favourite for the sunday roast!
People eat crocodiles and kangaroos so why not parrots?

                            Sweet and sour parakeet?
                            Parakeet and chips?

How would you eat a parakeet?

I know, with a knife and fork

Then it would be an ex- parakeet.
