  • Dead Rat

Roland rat has shuffled off his mortal coil......right beside my strawberry and runnerbean bed

I had hoped that a fox would consider him a tasty takeaway meal but sadly, no. Perhaps then this rat is tainted with poison?

So I must decide how to dispose of him. What on earth does one do with a (very) dead rat? Everything is soaking wet so I can't burn him and I'm not sure I want to bury a possibly poisoned rat where I grow my food

Apologies to anyone snacking while reading this by the way

I'd double bag/or wrap in newspaper and bin it.

Can't get the Monty Python dead parrot sketch out of my mind when I read this.Rat on a stick is supposed to be quite tasty!

Any courgettes left? You could always make some ratatouille

        Same as Scarlet suggests

Strangely enough - no one is demanding pics for this post.

I found a dead one yesterday on my plot, next to my rhubarb - and in the decomposing state. I don't know if I can face doing anything with it.

What would concern me is are people putting down poison near your veg?
Rats store food by moving it nearby even if it's been laced in poison ...hopefully not onto your plot

If you have a local bonfire you could cremate it I suppose

My uncle used to toss them into the middle of his compost bin, not sure how safe that is (it never did him any harm mind).
