    Pea "METEOR" not very sweet. Has anyone else grown this variety?

    The last lot of peas I planted this year were "Meteor". I planted them late so chose this variety as they were supposed to grow quickly.

    They have grown quickly and there are lots to pick at the moment but they are not very sweet. Has anyone else grown the same variety and are yours sweet?

      I grow these as early peas (although I plant them in the spring). I pick them young and they usually taste nice, but like the Geisha that I am growing as a late variety, the peas are rather smaller than the maincrop types. If you leave them to get big then yes, they are more starchy and less sweet.
