  • XMAS Dinner!

    Hello Folks

My eldest is now totally veggie, fair play to him.

Was looking for ideas regards what to cook him for Xmas Dinner therefore reaching out for success stories.

BTW, he has a nut alegy!
    Cheers

OH is veggie with a mushroom allergy (so no quorn - nearly as hard as a nut allergy!). Since living with him I've noticed veggies get a really poor deal usually. If possible for Christmas we try and make something separate, rather than some form of meat-substitute - so he might have saffron and butternut risotto for example and as many of the veggies as he wants to pile on. If oven/hob space doesn't allow for that we always have some cauldron foods cumberland sausages to hand - no nuts and no mushrooms in those, and they are tasty.

Lots of ideas at Vegetarian Recipes and christmas recipes from the Vegetarian Society
I wrap things in filo pastry to make them look a bit special.
Mushrooms (or chestnuts for sparrow's OH) make good fillings with onions, herbs etc.

HFW does a delicious mushroom ragout in red wine sauce served with polenta that he actually makes taste delicious. It's quite punchy and quite delicious enough to serve up as a special.
