  • Bee ID.

I was doing a bioblitz for college last week and came across this bee, I'm not sure I have the right identification so was hoping for some help. I need to do a small write up on one species I found and I'd like to do it on this little fella.

He was probably a little smaller than a bumblebee and was dark coloured with tufts of greyish or white hair.

I have him down as an Ashy mining been (Andrea cineraria)

I'd not heard of this bee, but looking it up, they fly April to June, so it's very late to be one of these. Bees "fur" fades as the bee ages, particularly if the weather has been very sunny. Could it be a faded carder bee?
    Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
    Endless wonder.
