    Gooseberry not fruited

    I've got a gooseberry bush or at least I think that's what it is. I planted it several years ago and the first year I thought it had died as it got buried under rhubarb leaves. It re-appeared the next year though but has never fruited.
    It's got to go this autumn though as its in the way.



    Is it a gooseberry? I'm not quite convinced the leaves are right.

    And if it is, is it worth putting somewhere else or giving away?

    I have my doubts too. Is it thorny? I think there's a thornless one called "Careless". The leaves look a bit like a hibiscus leaf to me.

        The stems look the right colour though. Not much help I'm afraid.

                Top pale leaves off are gooseberry in the front garden and the darker ones are off the thing in the back.

                      I don't know what it is I'm afraid, but it's not gooseberry.
                      What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?

                        Do the leaves smell blackcurranty when you rub them, Ad - or of anything?
                        I'm going to say its not gooseberry either - but wondering whether its a Jostaberry. Not quite the right shape of leaf but similar.

                          Nope not really any smell from the leaves.
                          I will dig it up and stick it in a pot and throw it in the back of the garden somewhere.

                            Whatever it is, if it hasn't produced any fruit then bin it.
