  • Albino beetroot?

Hi everyone, I have been following this forum since January and I have found it very useful as this has been my first year of growing vegetables. I should be glad for some help on identification.

I have just dug up what looks like an albino beetroot among others which look perfectly normal, the seeds were boltardy. Is it a beetroot or something more sinister!

    You can buy them...look..

    Vegetable Seeds : Beetroot Seed

maybe a rogue seed from the packaging company ...or a genetic blip?

personally I'd cook it smell and taste a nibble and eat it if it seems OK

I grew albino this year - tasted the same, very sweet and earthy.

        Thanks for the replies.

It was a lovely sweet beetroot and no stained hands as a bonus! I have found another hiding among the red beetroot. Pity there are not more.

It must have been a rogue batch of seed as I've had a couple in my Boltardy crop.Promiscuos little blighters!
