  • Ready for winter!

Our wood was delivered on Thursday - 12 steres - added to the 8 we already had...all nicely stacked - took from 8am to 2.30pm with a short coffee break. Done in temperatures in the upper 20's.
This will provide all our heating for the winter and cooking too.

My plan is to have enough woodland to gather the wood myself throughout the year .... just need a nice place in France first!

we thought of that too - it is possible to buy stretches of oakland here - but we are getting on a bit and its really hard work -but I would recommend moving to France if you are seriously thinking of it (saw your earlier post about making a change) but be absolutely sure about what you want first.

Where we are we have a right to cut timber about once every five years. We draw lots for who gets which plot and then you have to everything yourself - fell, haul, log, stack, split. Our plot cost 80e and produced 14 ish stere. That should last 6 years as we have an ugly but efficient new house!

Drove across the Pyrenees when I was a kid to get to Spain. Beautiful part of the world.
