  • Raised beds, cats and weeds

Hello all I'm thinking of building a few raised beds and was thinking of covering them with tarps and growing veg through holes in them, this is to try and keep the hundreds of cats we've got round here off of them and if it suppresses weeds it's a bonus
What do you think the only thing I can think of would be extra watering, which I was trying to get away from tbh hey ho can't have everything...

    Hi Spunky,

Here are some pics of a raised bed I knocked up earlier in the year.

This has worked absolutely perfectly for keeping cats off.

Tarp is no good: you want something permeable that the rain can get through, ie weed membrane

I keep cats off my beds with pieces of stick pushed into the soil to make the bed spiky. They don't like it.
