  • Huge black and orange insect

    Holy moly!! Can anyone identify this scary beastie please? It was flying around in work today and the only way to get it out was to sway it. Fly & wasp spray (which I hate) didn't do a thing.



    Size wise, it's about an inch and a half including the sting/tail.

    *Update. It looks like it's a female Ichneumon Wasp with a tail, not a sting. Mostly harmless I believe but it certainly gave my colleague the heebies

    When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
    If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.

    Got me curios,it could be a sirex wood wasp,sounds a bad thing

      I thought it could be a sirex wood wasp too but am not sure. It looks more like the Ichneumon but I could be wrong.
      When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
