I had to cage up my lavender which my dog has urinated on. will this grow back? or would be wise to cut back where it has died?

The dead bit won't re-grow, best cut it out. If that leaves just a few bits growing around the edge, I'd be inclined to lift it, dig its hole deeper, then half bury it in a good soil based potting compost so only the top inch or two of the shoots are sticking out, and hopefully all those side shoots will grow roots and either give you lots of cuttings next year, or develop into a sturdy bush if you don't split it.

I expected the worse. Although its not Munstead or Bicote which I heard are the best fragrance and what I prefer. Is this true?
I'll do what you suggest but I'll re-pot into a pot. I'll find a use for it somewhere.Comment

The part with leaves on will continue to grow - it is just the dead bits that won't. I would leave it where it is and if the dog does it again, dilute the urine with water so it doesn't burn it again.Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?Comment

good advice but I'm not there most weeks so can't keep up with what the dog doing all the time. I'm moving all the scented herbs to the front of the house as a welcoming smell when I come home and where the dog can't to them.Originally posted by Jeanied View Post
When I first planted fruit in my garden I protected them by growing them inside tomato cages wrapped in cling film so he couldn't harm the plants. He still somehow lifted his bum over the top and pooed inside. He is terrible.Comment

At least it is a male dog, Whiskyman - my female dog reputedly does more damage
Just to add, the slugs really seem to object to sliming their way across where she has had a pee
