  • Forecast not looking good

" Summer will be bought to an abrupt end this weekend as the tail end of Hurricane Bertha drags cold air in from Scandinavia.

Temperatures are expected to plunge across the country with chilly winds pushing the mercury close to freezing"

I have a row of dwarf french beans that are loaded and sooooo close to being ready for picking, hope these low temps won't affect them.

I was just wondering if I should be getting the fleece out It has become quite wintery in the evenings over the past week. I'm afraid that we've had pretty much all the summer we're going to over here

I'm hoping blight does not hit as I have lots of outdoor tomatoes waiting to ripen. I think the rest of my crops can cope with cooler temperatures. I got sick of watering crops, even ones in the ground.

The recent winds broke the raspberry wires, again. What is the point of the wire they sell in garden centres, it snaps so easily.
