  • Leeks bolting

    Hi,new bloke here,

    I'm new......
Last week I was admiring my leeks thinking they were the best I've ever grown, today it looks as if they've started to bolt.

    Any suggestions gratefully received.

      Hello New Bloke! Welcome.

What makes you think they are bolting? When were they sown and when were they planted out?

      How big are they now?

      What variety?

      Any pictures?

      Lots of info often helps!
The proof of the growing is in the eating.
      Leave Rotten Fruit.

Hi Tim and welcome to the Grapevine
My leeks have put on a lot of growth recently, with all this rain and warmth. What make you think yours are bolting? Photos would help please

Some of mine are bolting - flower stalk emerging - but I know they have been a bit stressed this year - lack of water and too close together. They taste fine and you pay a lot in the shops for baby leeks!

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

half of mine had massive flower stalks coming out of them a few weeks ago! I just cut them off and am now keeping my fingers crossed as to what happens.....

              They are Musselburgh variety.

I will get some pics on here tomorrow night. (Going to allotment tomorrow afternoon)

              Here are a few pics:

Thanks for all of the replies, I think they are bolting as they have really shot up during the last few days, I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them
