  • Asparagus peas .... not as bad tasting as some have said

I have a huge patch of asparagus peas (my 1st time ever growing these)

I have seen a few posts stating that people dislike them .... I have had my 1st batch tonight and love them... I was a bit reluctant to try them, as they taste foul when eaten raw

    however ....

pick them when they are approx 30mm long .... pinch the ends off and fry them in butter (not margarine)

when they go crispy, add some salt and fresh ground black pepper .... stir, then squeeze in a bit of fresh lemon juice.... serve hot

    lovely!

I love them...but as you say pick small!
I steam and then roll in butter- I think the saltiness brings out the flavour??

Will certainly try them your way for a change

That's good to know, I have some seeds but have heard that they aren't very nice. Perhaps I'll give them a bit of garden space next year.

I found them to be a pretty plant rather than a tasty plant - but taste is subjective
