  • Carrots.

Why do my carrots go soft shortly after pulling. Freshly pulled they are rock solid, but within a short time of putting in the veggie rack, they go soft. Any tips?

I keep them in the fridge in green 'stayfresh' bags and they last for ages.

Funny isn't it...you buy an old carrot from the supermarket and it's absolutely solid...yet the one from the garden /lottie just gets more bendy!...weird eh???

Yes its a carborundum wrapped in an enema.

I put them in the salad crisper last night, but they are still bendy.

Presumably the supermarket one is bred for keeping qualities, which is why it tastes poor. Or maybe they pressure treat them with preservative as per fence panels.
