  • What's going on with my tomato plant?

Over the last few days it's started looking like this.

Wow that is well wilted could be one of a few things root rot due to poor drainage, stem rot a canker, eel worm, verticillium wilt or even the dreaded blight.

All very bad news I am afraid.

Presumably it has been well watered. Mine have needed lots more over the last week. If the compost shrinks from the pot sides, water just runs out, leaving you to think it's had enough. In which case stand it in a saucer and keep filling the saucer til it stops soaking up.
Either way it's something going on at root level. I don't think it's blight.
Can you investigate the roots a bit? I've assumed in a pot, is it in or out?

It's in a grow bag. I think that could be the problem. My other plants are in pots. Sounds right about drainage.

        Shall go and check

It could be that the water is just running out. Grow bags are very difficult to water correctly especially if they have dried out. Try dripping small amounts of water on slowly, giving it a chance to rewet.

I have now removed this plant. The main stem was very rotten. Thankfully the rest of my plants appear to be fine. Thanks for your help folks.

Were the roots affected as well or just the stem?

Did you put some holes in the grow bag Scott for drainage?

That's why I have asked the question if its just the stem it will be a canker and things will need sorting.
