    Thanks Nicos.
I've just signed up to it. Better swat up on the butterflies before I sit in the sun for 15 minutes

I think that it would be useful to have a camera handy and then ID them afterwards?

My Buddleia has just come into flower too. Shame it's UK only - we have some really unusual ones here. Hey-ho, perhaps I'll do it anyway and publish the results of the Big Beaugut butterfly count on here instead

Just had a trial run and all I saw were white ones.............I always have trouble telling the Small and the Greenveined ones apart at a distance and they don't stay still for long - not for my camera!!

I had a letter in the post about it last week. Have filed safely for when I have time to sit still for 15 minutes. e.g. the summer holidays .

Just been down bottom of the garden to get the wheelbarrow. Only noticed a small white one of a brown one. I'll keep an eye out for any more whist I eat my dinner.

Came across it a few years ago and I used to count them when having a walk at lunch time.
Often wondered if they were puzzled by the observations, as one route was along a canal that had bushes, reeds and enclosed, the other was along a sea wall that was open, sandy and grassy. Species seen were utterly different.

Was fun trying to remember the ones I didn't know so I could sit and identify them afterwards.

Bought the laminated guide from FSC as it meant I didn't need to remember as much.

Don't forget you can take part in the count more than once so thats handy when different flowers available. We're getting a fair few of Meadow browns on the Oregano plus the Buddleia is out now as well.

All I need now is for the sun to come out.
