  • Cucumber Trouble

    Hi,

My cucumber plants all look fine and healthy, and have had quite a few cukes on them. But most of them seem to start growing then just turn yellow/black then shrivel and die. Not all as i say but quite a lot of them. I've added a few photos to show. Any ideas?

    Thanks

Could be a couple of things (a) cumbers can do that naturally as they can only support so many fruit. (b) lack of pollination can also cause this.

Make sure you pick all ripe fruit otherwise the plant will think its done its job and abort other fruit.

I've noticed my cucumber plants will do this to new little cucumbers if it's already got a few bigger ones growing on it. The moment you remove the larger fruit it will let new small cucumbers grow though, so perhaps that's your 'problem'? In my experience cucumber plants will happily keep growing new cucumbers so once your cukes are big enough, remove them, eat them, then enjoy the new growth.
