    Childrens plot

    Hi All

    I have a wedge of space on my plot 8x4 tapering to 1m and I want to turn this into a fun learning environment for our grandchildren. I have ordered a shed/playhouse for them but I am looking for imaginative suggestions as to what else I could add apart from the obvious small raised beds, any ideas please?

    What a cracking idea............the only thing I would do would be to make the bed a sq ft bed. It may be a little easier for the kids to deal with.

        How about a mini beast area? I know we want to keep the little critters off our plots but all kids love little mini beasts and think of the fun they will have collecting them off your veg area and putting them into their area.
        Of course them being your grand children how about a mud play area. You would be so popular with them. Not sure about from their parents though but as my mom says that's one of the joys being a grand parent.

          A log pile, fun to play on and will soon become a haven where creepy crawlies can be found and examined. Are your GC girls or boys BTW?

          Make some windchimes with them to hang on the playhouse. Lots of lovely ideas here

                I'd make sure you help them grow stuff they'll like, for ours it's strawberries (large and alpine) and peas, lots of peas, nothing like a path strewn with pea pods to let you know the kids love it....

                  A blue water barrel cut in half & filled with soil/compost,so they can each grow a pumpkin to carve at halloween

                    School gardening club loved strawberries first, but they also loved radishes, cucumbers, dwarf beans, and above all else, pumpkins!!!

                        How about a raised bed 6' long x 1' wide & 1' deep,with trellis fixed to the back either side of the shed,where they can grow "cutting flowers" for mum & also use it for a tallest sunflower competition
