  • Cherry trees dropping leaves.

One cherry tree was planted over a year ago and the other was planted a few weeks ago. They've both begun to drop leaves.

We've had decent amounts of rain lately and I've been watering the newer tree every 2 or 3 days. I haven't watered the older tree. It's been about a week since it rained.

Wondering if they both need more water but that would surprise me. Could too much water cause this? That would surprise me too since it's not like we've had massive amounts of rain.

    Thanks,

Could be over watering or could be leaf spot.

Just noticed you're in the states, no idea if you have leaf spot over there.

Was the newer tree supplied in a container or bare-root? Have you had a recent period of cold weather (so the tree might think summer is over and fall has arrived)?

Deer are more choosy in the summer when there are other dainties around, but you may find in the winter they they will strip bark from pear trees and apple trees and leave cherries alone.
