  • Bud Sport? red/pinkcurrant

firstly apologise for the poor picture it was taken on my phone whilst picking hold branches and leaves to one side and holding phone with the other hand,(Picture to follow)

quick rush i was collecting some fruit for work and fancied trying out some pinkcurrant jam, and came across a singular branch containing all redcurrant (no pinks) about maybe 8-12inches long, the branch is situated maybe 4-5ft high up the pinkcurrant bush , so not a bird sown seedling sneaking its way thru an established bush, i didnt detach the branch as would like to wait for the plant to go dormant to take a cutting i presume should reproduce the red fruit found on it,

i grow around 70-80 maybe different varieties of currants but have never seen anything like this on currants i have heard of things like this on apple trees, but never currants , very odd, i did notice also 2-3 berries on the bush that were a perfect 50% red 50% pink, as if the berry had been perfectly cut in half and put together, i will take pictures of this and post later, the variety of pinkcurrant is cerise blanche

It could be a chimera. Do you have photos of the two colour berries? See here:
