    Chilli plant is not well

    Hello, new here and a novice gardener just starting so hope you can help.
    Weve got a few chilli plants growing. They where both bought from a garden center, one is appache and doing well. The other is a Suttons Cherry bomb.
    Weve had it about a month and it is growing, but the larger leaves are being eaten and I cannot see anything on it. Also they are turning over and showing the under side of the leaf instead. It also has marks on the leaves. Any help would be appreciated as it does not look too healthy.

    I'm wondering what size pot you have it in? It looks a quite a large plant for a small pot - I may be wrong as I can't see it properly as I'm on my phone. Not sure if you have an insect problem, the damage on the leaf I can see looks more like it's been hit.

    If it was me, I'd pot up in a slightly bigger pot and give it a feed. Then see what you've got.

      The pot is around 9"/ 24cm deep and 12"/30 cm across. The plant itself is around 15"/40 cm high. There are holes in the leaves too which are not seen clearly on the pics. Its the strange way in which the leaves are turning on the stems to show the back of the leaf instead to the sun.

        If you look very closely on the backs of the leaves can you see anything? That's usually where eggs of aphids are.

        If you suspect that you've got something on them. Try washing off with water and then spaying with a mild solution of soap and water

          No cant see any eggs, and have also gone over all the leaves and see nothing crawling on them. Have sprayed them anyway, just incase but its made no difference.

            They do that when they are wilting. Is it pot bound? Are you watering from the top or the bottom? I think it needs a good soak and a feed.

              Is it on a windowsill? It could just be the directional light causes the leaf to twist and get confused. I've had twisting leaves before on indoor plants. I picked up a Suttons Paper Lantern and it is doing nicely outside.

                I have had twisting leaves, I just leave them alone, and everything normally fine.

                Chilli plants are pretty tough....

                  Got to agree!

                  The leaf damage looks like an aphid; either whitefly or greenfly. However the leaves look clean now so just forget them.

                  There seems to be a tie around the stem which seems like it could be tight and it will constrict the plant if left like that.

                  The plant is starting to bush up nicely... did you pinch out the growing tip to help it bush up?

                    yes, I pinch out top few inches actually. But only on cayenne's

                    I never pinch out habaneros

                    Mine were all pinched out when the plants were around 7 inches tall

                      The soil looks a bit dry. Pick the pot up; if it feels light then give it a good water. The leaves look wilted. Also have a look under the pot. If you see roots coming out of the base then it could be getting a bit leggy and needs a bigger pot.

                        I checked my hungarian black this evening. The most exposed one has some leaves that are twisting. I think it is just wind and sun exposure.
