  • Yay! I have peppers. :)

No big deal to some of you I'm sure, but this is the first time I've managed to successfully grow a pepper.

Allow me to be smug for a minute please, before I go back to my more usual 'what do I do now' and 'why isn't this working' type of questions.

Lol - that's amazing. I'm getting the same warm cuddly feeling about my first ever chillis - it's so exciting!!!

Your not alone. I am like that when I see my plant starting to produce food. Well done, it looks good

Just watch it isn't touching the soil as it could go mouldy

And keep the slugs off, they enjoy a munch on a young pepper!

Yup! I tried peppers last year, and ended up with about 8 fruit ... all attached by slugs! Didn't get to eat a single one.

Thanks for the 'keep it off the soil' tip, I'll put something under it shortly.

As for slugs, so far, none have managed to find their way into the tunnel (it's sited on tarmac, raised on wooden bearers and has 2 layers of weed control fabric as a floor and is stapled round the bearers so it's pretty much 'all enclosed'). That's not to say none ever will, mind you. But for now at least, slugs are not a problem thankfully.
