It looks like mildew to me, its a pain, Google for mildew cures, there are lots of them, spraying with a solution of skimmed milk, baking soda etc. None of them work very well but do help.

      Thank you. What causes it?

Spores of mildew floating in the air, its gets worse in damp conditions so it helps not to wet the leaves (except for spraying). I have it so bad on my patch that I have to select the more resistant varieties. it wiped out all my peas and courgettes last year. I found the skimmed milk helped more than the baking soda. About 100mm to a litre. All these cure act by raising the PH level of the leaf surface which discourages the mildew mould.

It's caused by dryness at the roots so a good water and mulch might help.
