  • Second Flowering...

Is it normal for a plum tree to flower twice in one season???

My tree has flowered, set some fruit and now is flowering again.

Sounds strange...perhaps it's down to the weather??
My Magnolia can flower up to 3 times a year !

Good thing about your second flowering is that they are at least safe from frost damage!!

I bought a little dwarf pear tree last year and got excited earlier on this year when I got some blossom. Then the dreaded aphids got hold, I missed them until it was too late. The leaves curled and the blossom died. Used a soap spray on tree, picked off dead leaves and kept an eye out for the return of this little horror. Tree is looking healthy again and lo and behold I have some new blossom. Not expecting fruit though but flowers are lovely!

It happens to all kinds of fruit trees, but varies from year to year which ones behave like this.
It's because the UK weather is so erratic; with numerous days of 'unseasonal' weather in every season (some summer days feel more like late autumn, for example).
The blurring of seasons of the UK's weather confuse the plants.
