  • Giant hellebores.

Hi can anyone id this hellebore, I have three growing in the only flower border we have in the garden. They have been flowering since december. I am loath to cut off the flowers as the are still going strong.

Yes it looks the same thanks. They don't smell bad though so why are they called "stinking"?

You should cut the 'flowers', which are infact bracts, off and not allow them to set seed or you will have them everywhere. he new shoots that they throw up are next years flowers. If you think they are big you should see the Corsican helebore!!

What lovely big healthy plants. I love hellebores but unless you want seedlings I would cut off the flower heads now. I speak from experience.

Too late just looked under the leaves - a beautifull carpet of seedlings. I could start a business!
