courgette planting

My courgettes have been out for a week or so, as has my pumpkin. They are in pots rather than the ground, don't know if this will make a difference. One courgette seems to have yellow on the leaves, not sure why but other than that, it looks healthy and little courgettes are starting to form. I'll feed it tomorrow and see what happens

Mine have been out for a good 5 weeks, I did bring them in twice when it got to zero

They are doing really well, have my first crop on Saturday

I had mine out during the day for a while, in the tunnel at night, then out in pots at night under debris netting for a few nights, and just planted them out in open ground a couple of days ago. They look OK I think - bit shell-shocked, but hanging on in there. Annoyingly the nights have gone cooler since I planted them, needless to say. I'm making sure they have plenty of water, and I'll cover at night if it gets much colder, other than that I'm sure they'll be fine

Hello and welcome to the vine Gavin looks like yours are doing well

Mines still in the GH I had a low of 6.5c in there last night and a couple of them had floppy leaves this morning but the perked up when the sun arrived.

Vince, any chance they have got dehydrated in the wind? If you are concerned (either wind or cold) maybe construct some bottle cloches if they won't squash the plants too much. My first year, we had horrendous winds just after I planted them so I put a hay bale in front to protect them until they were established.

Mine are only just going out days and coming in nights but they are going to be very big plants before they go out!

Mine won't be going out for at least another fortnight - still much too cold here (today feels almost wintery). When I do plant them out, I usually cover with bell cloches for a few weeks.

I've planted my squashes out in stages so I don't lose then all. I started 3 weeks ago. Two left to go out next week. They all but one look ok. They do look a bit shell shocked for a couple of days then they pick up.

Most of ours are out in black builders buckets with holes drilled in them, they are getting ready to go mad now with lots of leaf growth coming, we have a few in reserve to plant out later just in case. You can buy from poundland a tube of plastic (for tomatoes) which works really well with protecting them when they have just been put out.

Mine won't be out for a couple of weeks yet, not full time anyway as I've found they benefit from a bit of extra TLC.

I always put water cooler bottles with the bottom cut off over mine when I plant them out then remove about 10 days later when they've got their roots down a bit.also helps a bit with the slugs

We had a mini-monsoon in Ipswich today, so I thought I'd better go and have a look at the courgettes and squashes down the lottie. They look pretty poorly, so I have covered them with cloches but am definitely going to sow some more - like most people on here, I have more seeds than I need anyway, so I might as well sow some back ups, they can always go on the swpas bench if my first ones pull through.

Much drier forecast for the next few days, so hopefully a bit of sun will perk them up. Must wait a bit longer before sowing next year, always too keen....
