    Dog ate my labels!!

    New to gardening and also a new puppy in the house - not a great combination. I had some leeks and spring onions coming along nicely, labelled and still in their plant pots, know its a bit late for the leeks but got carried away at the garden centre and bought seeds to my heart content - anyway the puppy has pinched the labels and now I can't tell which is which - any suggestions? I'm guessing if I leave them the leeks will thicken out but if I leave the leeks in the plant pots then they surely aren't going to develop - I've no idea what to do.

    Lesson learnt - keep up and out of reach of puppy!!

    Hello and welcome to the Forum.
    If it helps, leeks will have flat leaves and onions have round, hollow leaves
    What sort of puppy do you have? Any photos

        What size pots have you planted the leeks and spring onions in? As I start my leeks off in 12 pot and let them grow on from February until June then simply knock the block of leeks out the pot soak in a bucket for twenty minutes untangle and then have a good set of leeks about pencil thickness, just trim roots and plant in hole 6 inches deep and water in but not filling hole with soil

        Two years on and the harvest and yield has been great.

        When mine are ready going to put photos on vine

                Spring onions tend to grow a lot slower than leeks

                    Ha! Yes, puppy photos would be good. as someone has already said the leeks will probably be smaller than the spring onions.
