  • Runner Beans In Same Tub as Last Year ?

I am limited on space and have a large plastic tub I grew runner beans in last year very successfully. As I have nowhere else to grow them and nowhere to put last year's compost in the tub, can I plant runner beans again in the same compost if I add some fresh organic matter and feed comfry ?

Beans are heavy feeders, so if you feed them well as you say, I don't see why not.

Thing to look out for are slugs eggs etc in the compost.
Zapping the soil in the oven or microwave would see off any nasties which may want to eat your beans.
Check for worms etc first though.

Thanks. Microwaving the soil would take forever and cost me £££ so I will take the risk as I am about to give everything a dose of nematodes which has a variety of different ones to tackle a few pests.

As posted by Nico's you will have to keep up to speed on your feeding the compost will be all but dead and runners need a lot of nutrients.
