Is anybody else growing these this year? I planted four and they seem to be doing ok. How big should I let them get before I re-pot them?

Also, on some of the other threads about melons it mentioned hand pollination. It doesn't mention doing anything like that on the pack but just wondering if it's still something I need to do.

Here's a piccy of how they are now:

Got 3 in the greenhouse and can't remember their names sorry, but cantaloupe type.i find that hand pollination is more successful than just leaving it to the bees.I normally use a small paintbrush, transferring pollen between the male and female flowers. However early yesterday morning I was using the end of my dressing gown cord...don't ask!

Hi Gordon, I would wait for at least one true leaf before potting on. Personally I sow things like squash and courgettes in bigger pots, as they grow so fast!

      Never tried melons though.

Actually I agree, the leaves are also huge so it's worth next time sowing each seed in its own pot.they soon fill them.

Hi Gordon, I`ve planted a few to see how good I am at growing these tasty treats for myself, they are at the same stage as yours, although a little visitor gnawed off one completly, they are now higher up out of the way. Looking up the subject on the net gives an easy over view on their developement and what to watch out for, good luck and keep us updated with your pics.
