    New Greenhouse grower

    Hi, this January I gave an old greenhouse a new home. I have been sowing and potting up but now things are getting more advanced I am not so sure what to do.
    I have 2 cucumber plants which are producing baby cucumbers, the plants do not seem very strong as the cucumbers grow do they need supporting, I have heard that they become bitter if they do not grow straight, is this true?
    I have several varieties of Tomatoes can I over water them, I am worried they will dry out but can too much water also be a problem?
    I started potatoes in bags in the greenhouse they got off to a flying start and I then moved them outside, the foliage is now about 18" high and keeps drooping, they haven't flowered, how do I know when to harvest.
    I am also trying aubergines and chili peppers any advice?

      Cucumbers will need supporting. The fruits can be bitter if they are pollinated and hence why you can buy all female flower varieties to ensure non bitter fruit. or you remove the male flowers as soon as they form.

      The main thing with tomatoes is to water consistently, if they dry out and then get too much water the fruits can swell and split and also can cause blossom end rot.

      The potato leaves are drooping because they may be short of water and are getting stressed in the heat. To check if there are any spuds you can poke around with you hands/fingers to feel the tubers.

              Yep capsid nailed it, Your cucumber will grow to the roof and more and will need a cane or two. \you can overwater toms the answer is to water little and often, dip you finger into the soil and test it, if you are overwatering you may also get green mould on the top of the compost. The spuds need a lot of water, don't rely on rain it just doesn't get into the compost. Water them until you think they have had enough then do it again. If your cucumber plants look as if they are struggling then pull off any existing fruit to give them chance to establish. Feed them with some tomorite Search you-tube for "Growing cucumbers" lots of help there. and a very warm welcome.

                    Welcome my fellow green fingered friend with potatoes I have always waited for the flowers to die away if to early they are always like new potatoes very thin skinned
