    questions

    Apologies in advance for the numpty questions!!

    So, how often do you need to water soil in a propagator? Is it best to water every day or only when the soil starts to dry up?

    Also, I planted some melons, corn, tomatoes, marigolds and chillies in my blow away. The melon is looking good (2 leaves on each plant) and corn is also starting to show through (about 1.5cm). Nothing from tomatoes, chillies and marigolds yet. Having read through some of the other threads it seems it probably gets too cold at night. Am I best to start bringing them indoors at night or would it be best chucking them out and starting a new set indoors? They've all been going about two weeks so far.

    You don't need to water in a propagator, once the seeds have germinated they should be taken out then you can consider watering.

      If they haven't germinated why not keep them indoors? They don't need light until they show through.

      If they don't show soon start another batch.

        It all depends how dry is dry. Do you drink when you're thirsty, or when it's 4 o'clock? Same for seedlings, when they're thirsty.

        Stand your pots in a saucer or tray of water for 5 mins, and they'll take up what they need (daily). If you use a clear container, you can see the water disappearing, which is quite cool

          Your seed packet may have indicated the temp that your seeds need for germination (usually it says 20c-25c).


          You will need to start such delicate creatures off indoors in the warm, then move them out to the blowaway when they're a few inches tall
